Save The Texas State Board Of Plumbing Examiners

0 have signed. Let’s get to 200,000!

Starting September 1st, 2019 the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners will be abolished, and all requirements of the Plumbing License Law (PLL) will cease to apply.

What does this mean for plumbers? Plumbers will no longer be able to renew, apply, or test for a license in the State of Texas after August 31st, 2019. Licenses will no longer be necessary for a person to perform plumbing work or run a plumbing business in Texas.

Why should someone who is not a plumber care? This is a SAFETY concern.
With the Board abolished ANYONE can perform plumbing work or operate a plumbing business in the State of Texas. A person may consider themselves a plumber without having any proof of education.

With the Board and the PLL in place, a person with a GED or High School Diploma may become an apprentice. In order for an apprentice to become a licensed Journeyman Plumber, they must have proof of 8000 hours (about 4 years) of documented experience working under a licensed Master Plumber, 48 hours of approved classroom hours and a High School diploma or GED to apply to be a Journeyman Plumber. From there, they must take a test that is issued by the Board and pass to receive their license.

Without the board, there is no one holding plumbers liable for possible damages, no one to enforce and uphold the standards that keep the public safe, and no one to oversee the health and safety of our Texas communities.

This is more than leaky sinks and clogged toilets. This is a PUBLIC SAFETY CONCERN!

We need to reach Governor Abbott so he may hold a special session that will save The Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners (or establish another qualified, alternative), the integrity of the plumbing trade, and the health of our One Star Nation.
