Every time I rescue a lost ferret and try to find the owner through Craigslist I receive the dreaded letter from CA Department of Fish & Wildlife stating:

It has been brought to our attention, through Craigslist,  that you might be in possession of a ferret.

If you are in possession of a ferret, and do not possess a permit from the Department of Fish & Wildlife, you have one of the following three options:

1. Ship the animal out of state.
2. Return the animal to the point of origin, if outside of CA.
3. Destroy animals.

Why would anyone "Destroy" a ferret? This is very offensive. You wouldn't say "Destroy the Puppy," or "Destroy the Kitten." 

Governor Newsom, your name is on this letter. Please stop asking us to destroy a loving, living animal.
