Sirhan Sirhan was going to be up for parole again in March of this year, but with Covid, the system is backlogged and his hearing was pushed back.
That means you have time to write a short, one-page letter to the parole board to ask for his release. I know, signing a petition is easier than writing a letter. But remember: you can save the life of a man who lost 2/3 of his life for a crime he provably didn't commit.
Sirhan’s current lawyer, who specializes in parole, says do not talk about conspiracy or how he was wrongly convicted. Emphasize that he was only 24 at the time (as new legislation in CA asks for more leniency for people who were under 26 at the time of their lifetime conviction). Emphasize that he has a clean record in prison. Emphasize that he has a brother and a home just waiting for him, all his life, waiting for his brother to come home. It’s also what the Catholic Robert F. Kennedy would have wanted. He believed in forgiveness.
Here is the parole board's address:
Board of Parole Hearings
1515 K St
Sacramento, CA 95814
Thank you. I hope you've noted I only rarely send a message to the petition signers. But this was so important, and I believe you understand the tragedy of his continued imprisonment.
Thank you for being an awesome activist.
