HUGE NEWS! It looks like SB 134 in Indiana will not make it out of committee!
I want to share what YOU can do in your city to STOP THE RETAIL SALE OF DOGS AND CATS. Email your city council members asking them to consider a retail pet store ordinance. *this does not apply to pet supply stores and does not stop shelters from hosting adoption events. Over 450 municipalities have a pet store ordinance and you can find every ordinance in the US here:

send a sample to your council members.
FIND YOUR COUNCIL MEMBERS:
google your city and find the .gov website. On that website you will find the city council members emails. If you cannot find their emails send a general inquiry or email the mayor or clerk. When you find the council member emails, email them all at once to be most effective. Even if you do not have a pet store in your city please ask! Preventative ordinances are much easier to pass!
INFO ON WHERE PET STORES ARE GETTING PUPPIES/PUPPY MILLS:
bailingoutbenji.com is the largest puppy mill database in the US. If you are curious about a pet store near you, look them up here:

USDA INSPECTION INFORMATION:
the USDA inspects puppy mills and allows them to continue operating because they are considered livestock and have essentially no standards. You can look up any breeder here:

never underestimate your power in getting things done in your community! I hope this is helpful. Let’s get things done!
helpful info: the AKC supports puppy mills because they get paid every time a puppy gets registered. Who registers puppies? Puppy mills and pet stores. Why? Because they think that will increase sales price. An unregistered dog is just as legitimate as a registered dog. Try not to focus so much on the breed, focus on the dog. Find the right dog for you, not the breed you think is right for you.
brokers are EXTREMELY ALARMING sources for puppies. They buy from puppy mills and then sell in bulk to pet stores. This disguises the origin of the puppy and any veterinary or genetic info. Also be aware that these dogs get shipped like cargo without food, water, or a handler and they don’t all survive. If one is sick, they will likely all become sick. I’ve read reports of puppies being wrapped in newspaper. They are not required to count the number alive upon shipping and the number alive upon arrival.
