End the Nevada Bear Hunt

End the Nevada Bear Hunt
The Issue
Problem
Nevada has a small black bear population of approximately 450 animals. Yet, the Nevada Department of Wildlife and the Nevada Board of Wildlife Commissioners have allowed a small group of trophy hunters to kill up to 20 bears a year since 2011. This hunt has continued even as polls have shown the majority of Nevadans oppose it.
This hunt, coupled with the high number of vehicular deaths, bears killed in the name of “public safety” and ongoing drought affects, is decreasing our bear population at an unhealthy and unsustainable rate. The future of our beloved bears is at stake.
Solution
As Governor, you will have the power to stop the bear hunt. We ask that you once again protect our Nevada bears as they had always historically been.
Please end the Nevada bear hunt!
