Below is their recent corporate response which varies from the positive message they've been sending out in recent weeks. Tell them you want your stores to follow the Coral Gables model. Publix Corporate Statement - "We have supported legislation clarifying that the State has the authority to regulate the use of plastic bags and other containers such as polystyrene, because it is very difficult and expensive to comply with a patchwork of local ordinances regarding what we can offer to our customers. We believe our customers should have choices, and we will continue to offer them the option of paper, plastic, or reusable bags. Occasionally, we provide our customers with promotions to increase the awareness of reusable bags. At this time, we do not have any plans of eliminating plastic bags."
