HEWA ALERT: A CALL FOR IMMEDIATE ACTION

The U.S. Military is seeking the Congressional Delegation’s support to extend leases for all military activities in Ko Hawai’i Pae ‘Āina. By doing this they are seeking to have Congress overturn the Supreme Court of Hawai’i in Ching vs Case and the Admissions Act.

If approved by the Senate, this action will negatively impact the Public Land Trust which are Crown and Government lands, the Department of Hawaiian Homelands beneficiaries and all Native Hawaiian beneficiaries of the Crown and Government lands. 

The Admissions Act affirms that all lands in Hawai’i are held in trust for the betterment of the conditions of Native Hawaiians and the General Public. 

The U.S. Military has signed legally binding contracts in Hawaiʻi. Did the U.S. Military not read the contracts at the time that they were signed? Why are they seeking Congressional approval to overturn the existing contracts with the people of Hawaiʻi? If Congress seeks to allocate funds for Hawaiʻi they have more than one option which includes but is not limited to: the ability to work with the Native Hawaiian community to uphold the law and stop the destruction of different wahi pana across Ko Hawaiʻi Pae ʻĀina. We affirm and support our kūpuna and call upon the U.S. Senate to stop seeking to overturn good law that is intended to begin the healing process in Hawaiʻi. 

Native Hawaiians are right holders of the Public Land Trust not stakeholders. Please join us in opposing the U.S. Militaryʻs actions by: supporting Aunty Maxine Kahaulelio and Uncle Ku Ching’s resolution regarding Ching vs Case, the Mauna Kea Moku Nui ‘Aelike Consensus Building ‘Ohana’s position on Pōhakuloa, signing the 1,2,3 Form Builder to be delivered to the Congressional Delegation and calling your Congressional Representative.
