Governor Cuomo, next step is shut off the gas in Spectra Energy's AIM pipeline
Governor Cuomo, next step is shut off the gas in Spectra Energy's AIM pipeline
Why this petition matters

Dear Governor Cuomo,
Spectra Energy/Enbridge has run a 42-inch fracked gas pipeline under our Hudson River, a mere 105 feet from critical safety infrastructure at decaying Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant.
UPDATE: On June 22, 2018, four New York State agencies finally released the safety assessment of Spectra's Algonquin Incremental Market (AIM) pipeline. The executive summary highlights several major areas of risk presented by AIM’s location adjacent to Indian Point.
Until public safety can be assured, NYS must do what they can to halt the flow of gas. It is not enough to point fingers at FERC and NRC. The Public Service Commission must use all of the power it is delegated by PHMSA (Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration) to ensure that the gas is stopped from flowing through the pipeline. They must perform an inspection and then refer to PHMSA for enforcement, i.e.,: shutting the gas down.
We are at risk from a rupture that could cause a meltdown at Indian Point (due to loss of power). The gas must be shut off.
Sincerely,
Local Organizations: ResistSpectra, SAPE (Stop the Algonquin Pipeline Expansion) SEnRG (Safe Energy Rights Group) along with Sane Energy Project and the following residents of New York and the surrounding regions:
