Earlier this month we came in front of our Township Committee to ask them to address the proposed blasting with dynamite on 30 Dorison Drive. While they were outraged at the idea of blasting and listened to numerous precedents in which properties suffered damage and toxins were produced, they responded that their hands were tied, that once the requirements set forth by the Fire Chief were satisfied, there was nothing more they could do. That is just not correct.

They should be able to say "No" for "the good and welfare of the community." Blasting jeopardizes the health and well being of the citizens of our town. It puts at significant risk the environment, our families, and our homes. We would like them to be able to consider safer alternatives such as drilling and hydraulic technologies and consider creating guidelines for bedrock excavation.
