As a parent, nothing is more important than the safety of my kids.

I believe firmly that a teacher accused of inappropriate behavior needs to be removed from the classroom immediately, the police need to be notified, and there needs to be a full investigation. This should not be up for debate. I know that even one extra second of children not being safe is intolerable.

Yet Assemblywoman Joan Buchanan, under pressure from the teachers’ union, is trying to push through a bill (AB 375) that would make it more difficult to remove these teachers from the classroom. The bill doesn’t even allow all of the victims of abuse the opportunity to tell their story by limiting depositions to a maximum of five.

It’s unconscionable and unacceptable.

We need to tell our legislators that they CANNOT play politics with the safety of our children. Elected officials should be concerned about protecting kids, not campaign contributions.

Please sign this petition and tell Governor Jerry Brown to put our children first by vetoing AB 375. Safe schools should be our first priority.
