Create Strong Anti-Discrimination Laws in Arkansas, South Carolina and Wyoming

The Issue

Hello there,

Arkansas, South Carolina, and Wyoming are the only states in the country that do not provide any protection for victims of hate crimes or concrete penalties for offenders.

My name is Christian Ortiz. 26 years ago my family and I made Georgia our home. Over the course of these years I have witnessed the issue of hate crimes and racism climb to unfortunate numbers all over the nation including our very back yard. Already in May of 2020, we have witnessed countless videos on social media showing the murder and injustice towards African American's and other nationalities. Racism has never gone away. It has hidden in the shadows for centuries. Setting political preference aside, I ask you to take a stand with me. This is not about taking political sides, this is about taking the sides of our fellow human beings. The moment legislation is passed preventing senseless murders, hate crimes and acts of racism, the sooner we can unite as a nation and see a true decline in these horrendous and senseless acts. I ask, I beg, I plea...please sign this to encourage our Mayors and Governors to implement laws against hate crimes. I am tired. We are tired. Now, more than ever, change needs to happen.
