This is important because the bills will greatly infringe upon women's rights. The "personhood" bill would define a fertilized egg, a zygote, as a person, which would effectively ban any type of birth control that prevents a fertilized egg from attaching to the lining of the uterus (Plan Bb, IUD's, etc), and would complicate IVF, and probably down the line ban abortions in VA as well. The abortion ultrasound bill would require every woman wanting an abortion to pay for a transvaginal ultrasound, which is an invasive procedure, and would greatly limit a woman's right to consent. Women in Virginia would only have three options: get the invasive procedure, go to another state to get an abortion, or not get one at all. Those are not options.
