"But I am willing to give him the opportunity to show he has changed." Sen. Gilmore

"But I am willing to give him the opportunity to show he has changed." Sen. Gilmore
The Issue
Tn-Gov. Bill Lee today confirmed his photo dressed as confederate soldier in an Auburn yearbook between 1977-1981.
At that same time, in Nov 1978 the Nathan Bedford Forrest bust was installed in the Tn State Capitol.
It remains there today.
Gov. Lee today said, "I never intentionally acted in an insensitive way, but with the benefit of hindsight, I can see that participating in that was insensitive and I've come to regret it."
Today Sen. Gilmore said, "If I have seen they have changed and are doing good and good work, I am willing to extend the olive branch. I hope he will be the governor for all people. Time will tell, but I am willing to give him the opportunity to show he has changed."
Here's our chance. Let's give him the opportunity.
Both former Governors Bill Haslam & Lamar Alexander support relocating the Nathan Bedford Forrest bust to the Tn State museum.
Let's help Gov. Lee have the opportunity to show he is the governor for all people by moving this statue to the Tennessee State Museum.
