Currently on Cape Cod, we are known not only as a wonderful vacation destination but also as having the highest rate of death from drugs than anywhere else state wide. The DPH mission statement is clear "...to provide access to high quality public health and health services ,... and health equity for all people in the Commonwealth." What has been done to help our local Cape Cod young people stay safe to get treatment?                                                   NOTHING There is no facility on Cape Cod that has prioritized the care for Cape Cod, the majority of which rely on MA Health Insurance . Currently unless you can pay cash, there is simply no recourse.  If you do have private insurance the wait will be long and again with no system the loss of life is inevitable. Losing one more Cape Cod citizen due to the lack of treatment is no longer acceptable !!! Since when did people become so expendable? We, the undersigned are acknowledging the demand for a centralized program  A.S.A.P.S that will provide on the spot access for addiction treatment and support on Cape Cod. We may not be able to manufacture the facilities to treat our Cape Cod citizens on Cape Cod overnight, BUT we can insure they get consistent treatment by insisting that we have a program that accepts people with SUD regardless of the phase of treatment they require. This will allow a consistent and uninterrupted path to recovery. A.S.A.P.S. can make the difference between life and death. The time is now to open the doors to this program on Cape Cod- ASAP !
