Sensible Solar for Rural New York
2 Mar 2021

Sensible Solar for Rural New York is hosting a virtual town hall meeting via Zoom tomorrow -- Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at 6:00 pm. Town of Copake officials, New York State Senator Daphne Jordan, New York State Assemblymember Didi Barrett, and Sensible Solar for Rural New York will provide important project updates to local residents and concerned citizens on the status of Illinois-based Hecate Energy’s proposed industrial-scale solar facility planned for Copake and Craryville, NY.

The citizen-led coalition will share information on its ongoing efforts to push back against the now 360-acre solar development which remains in direct violation of the Town of Copake’s zoning laws, goes against growing community opposition, and will have lasting adverse impacts on Copake’s natural resources, farmland, birds and wildlife, rural viewsheds, and agriculture- and tourism-centric economy.

Local landowners and long-time residents of the area will have an opportunity to ask questions and offer their perspective on the planned solar project as Hecate Energy attempts to bypass local zoning laws and ignore community opposition by seeking New York State’s approval through the State’s Article 10 process.
