On February 1, 2018 my 10 year old daughter was assaulted at school by another student. We contacted the principal and was told it would be taken care of. On February 2nd, my daughter was jumped in the hallway by the same girl from the day before.  Dragged to the ground and beat up right in the middle school hallway. To make matters worse, another student taped the incident and posted it on YouTube. School policy states that if your child engages in physical violence with another student EVEN WHILE DEFENDING THEMSELVES, they can also be held responsible—be suspended or expelled JUST LIKE THE BULLY or perpetrator. Our school should have a zero tolerance bully policy. Current state law states that a child can be automatically expelled for a year if they bring a gun or knife to school. What about fists being deadly weapons??? This needs to CHANGE. When my daughter was being punched in the face, she should have been allowed to defend herself with no fear of school discipline. Furthermore, the child who attacked her TWO DAYS IN A ROW should have been suspended for 10 days at a minimum or expelled. Please join me in standing up for our children. This school policy across many counties is ludicrous. We need to be the voice for the kids who are abused either physically or verbally by the bullies in our schools.
