2020 will prove the be a watershed year in the struggle to protect veterans monuments from cultural and historic cleansing. At risk are spectacular portraits in the Texas State Senate chamber as well as the statue of Robert E. Lee in National Statuary Hall in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
Spearheading the push to remove the statue of Robert E. Lee is Virginia Governor Ralph Northam, best known for his denial of appearing in "blackface" in his medical school yearbook and for his active support of abortion rights groups like NARAL and Planned Parenthood.
Governor Northam has settled on iconoclasm as a means to distract from his own transgressions and as a way to bolster support from the radical left for his flagging political career.
While leading figures at the Southern Poverty Law Center faced recent charges of a systemic culture of racism and sexism, we can expect the SPLC to double down on its iconoclasm for the very same reasons Governor Northam is doing it.
Patriotic citizens desiring to preserve our heritage and honor our veterans will need to brace themselves for a rough and stormy New Year ahead. Stay vigilant and help us achieve the 5000 signature mark. Organize and increase your involvement in political action! May God protect you and thank you for your ongoing support!
