Why this petition matters

My name is Faith aged 31,I am appealing to the ministry of public service labour and social welfare and the Zimbabwean government at large to review the PVO amendment bill.

I believe NGO's are non profit entities that are formed independent from the government ,they're mainly active in human rights and socio economic affairs. I was born and raised in Zimbabwe and have witnessed first hand the positive impact NGO's make in our society through feeding schemes, self development programs, fees assistance to vulnerable and orphaned children just to mention a few.

I am a mother and also an ECD teacher and in that capacity l have been privileged to work closely with children, teenage mothers and parents in general hence l have discovered their different areas of need which motivated me to want to register an NGO. When the PVO amendment bill  came out l felt and saw that dream slipping right out of my hands because it looks like the aim of this bill is to put as much obstacles as possible in the registration and limitations in the operations of non governmental organizations.

While the new bill is aimed at serving purposes related to terrorist financing it looks more like the government is now treating all NGO's like terrorist organizations to the extent of  putting on hold the registration of NGO's. As a woman it becomes very difficult to register or run an NGO in the community because it has been given a bad image and seen as a criminal or terrorist activity.
