Myself and a lot of other Port Elizabeth natives woke up to the news of our beloved city’s name changing. And I just found myself wondering if it’s really necessary. Especially given the worldwide pandemic we’re in that has brought the world an our economy to a hault. I mean, does it make sense using funds to change the name of a city when it could’ve been used to liberate so many struggling in this time.
