This a petition to stop scalpers from using bots (an autonomous program on the internet or another network that can interact with systems or users) to purchase products and reselling it for more than the retail price. Bot scalping has been purchasing products on the internet for MSRP to the point where other consumers or customers are unable to purchase anything due to high demand and low availability. The scalpers (a person who resells products at a large or quick profit for personal monetary gain) are purchasing products and reselling them on websites such as eBay for double or triple the retail price. This petition is created for the Government to pass a law to make it illegal for a person to purchase merchandise with bots and resell for more than the original MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested Retail price) for two years since that products release date. After two years of the product being released, it would be considered a collectible and then can be resold for more than the original MSRP. The biggest bot scalping issues include the Xbox/PS5 consoles, Nintendo Switch Consoles, PC hardware, and Pokemon trading cards and anything merchandise related to these products.
