Jamie Mascall started this petition to UK Government and

The East Lincolnshire Railway was a railway line which formerly ran from Grimsby via Louth and south to Boston, Spalding, and onto Peterborough.

Eastern Lincolnshire needs to be reconnected back up to the mainline at Peterborough to enable a direct service to London, especially for commuters for work, leisure, etc.

As the line travelled south to Boston it also passed through the communities of Alford and Firsby. Louth is a large town in Eastern Lincolnshire which needs it’s railway line back!

It was closed to passenger traffic on the 5th October 1970 but the section between Louth and Grimsby was singled and was kept open for a further ten years for freight traffic only.

The line was completely closed in December 1980 to all traffic, and was lifted shortly after this date.

Firstly, a business study needs to be developed, and then followed by a feasibility study afterwards. We NEED to find the best route possible to re-open the railway line from Louth to Firsby.

I URGE East Lindsey District Council to protect both the Louth to Firsby, and the Firsby to Mablethorpe track beds so that they can be reused for railway use only!

Signing, and sharing this petition can help to make this re-opening happen so please do this. It is much appreciated.

Thank you!

Jamie
