So as you all know, animal cruelty in England seems to be gradually getting worse. Every case also seems to become more and more vicious and it’s always mainly towards dogs. The sentence’s that these criminals are getting are 100% not long enough, and it doesn’t seem to be changing any time soon. Most murderers start off harming animals and then progress to humans. Many studies in psychology, sociology, and criminology have demonstrated that violent offenders frequently have childhood and adolescent histories of serious and repeated animal cruelty. Additionally, mental health professionals and top law enforcement officials consider the blatant disregard for life and suffering evidenced by all forms of cruelty to animals to be an unquestionable warning signs. So this petition is to create a register (very similar to a sex offenders register)  that keeps all names of offenders that have harmed animals so that the public are more aware of who the animal abusers are. The register with all names would be passed on to all animal organisations and to breeders etc so it would be made harder for these people to buy and abuse more animals in the future. In addition, such registries could be valuable in tracking people who engage in illegal animal fighting, such as cockfighting and dog fighting; hoarders; and those who run puppy mills.
