The Issue

We all love animals, and the use of fireworks does not really show how much you love them. There has been many petitions regarding this, but maybe another one does the trick. The use of fireworks in residential areas are illegal in most parts of the world, yet there are 'special occasions' such as Diwali and New Years that still permit the use of fireworks during certain hours on these days, by doing that you don't actually solve the problem, you only limit the use to certain days but the problem still remains the same. Animal cruelty is prevelant during these times, and fireworks are largely to blame for this in a country like South Africa specifically. After these days where they are permitted for a few hours, your social media time lines are flooded with pictures of dogs, cats, horses, farm animals and so on being scared to the point that they jump over palasade fences, fighting and even running into walls and sustaining brain damage as a result, pets going missing and being hit by cars on highways after they can't find their way home again, yet people are allowed to shoot fireworks that does nothing except make a noice and pretty sparkling for a few seconds while the animals suffer for months with the injuries they sustained. Government should make the trade and the use of fireworks on all occasions 100% illegal on all days of the year, what is actually the difference between kicking an animal and scaring them to the point that they would rather be dead than to listen to the banging of another firework? What is the difference between receiving a jail sentence for kicking a dog but you get to be a free man after a dog kills itself on a fence after you shoot fireworks? People should make the conscious decision to stop supporting the trade of fireworks completely, they don't have anything to sell if you don't buy them.
