THIS IS A WELLBEING EDUCATION REVOLUTION. It's time for proactive intervention in Schools.
The Issue
Join the Silent Wellbeing Revolution!
This is a 'Cam-Pain' in loving memory of my younger brother Cam, who devastatingly took his own life at the age of 20.
The initiative sets out to inspire Government hierarchy to take proactive early intervention action, by integrating 'Wellbeing Education' lessons within compulsory education.
This is called a ‘Silent' Revolution because we need to use the power of global communication, social media and the likes, to quietly build momentum with this petition.
Please sign and share to help grab the attention of Government officials who can help make this happen.
I hope this petition is enough to win your digital signature, however, if you would like further information please see, petition videos 'If it works, It's right' on You Tube. Which outline the intention of this initiative - 'Part 1' covers the 'Why ?' - Part 2 covers the ‘How ?’.
It is much more efficient and sustainable to solve any problem at source.
Statistics indicate - 50% of Mental Health problems are developed by the age of 14 and 75% before the age of 24 - therefore early intervention at the source of the problem is our best chance to improve the situation sustainably.
Learning from our mistakes in life is powerful, however, sometimes it is unnecessary.
It is time to make Wellbeing a priority within our education system to help people remain comfortable in their own skin.
Technology is on a fantastic road of continual improvement. It is time to get Wellbeing on the same road.
We can share the basics required for maintaining Wellbeing in Schools. We can provide insights into how stress effects the body and brain - please note this alone can assist with helping people recognise how to overcome challenges.
Layers of practical skills can be built up, to provide a flexible foundation for dealing with the inevitable ‘bigger’ situations that shake us, later in life.
The definition of ‘Wellbeing’ is the state of being comfortable, happy or healthy.
One thing is certain, everyone on the planet strives for Wellbeing. Every decision we make, every action we take, is done so on the basis that it will make us feel more comfortable or happy. The problem is, we often default to 'short term' or 'misguided' options, rather than 'longer term' sustainable options.
Handled correctly, offering Wellbeing guidance in Schools will improve awareness of what works sustainably - which will gradually integrate practical skills within society.
The tag line is the three E's - Educate. Empower. Enjoy.
With your digital signature - we can become closer to collectively helping youth experience practical methods which noticeably:
- Develops communication and listening skills
- Assists with processing thought and emotion
- Builds self confidence, self belief and persistence
- Improves an understanding of diet, nutrition and digestion
- Helps us learn how to deal with others in emotional distress
- Helps us understand what we actually need in life to survive and thrive
- Provide an insight on current global warming issues, solutions and priorities
- Reduces bullying by increasing awareness on the pain and distress it causes
- Helps us understand we need to set goals for sense of purpose and direction
- Helps us realise that mindsets effect our approach, attitude and inevitably the outcome
- Encourage ongoing active self experiment to help more people discover their unique talents
- Promote curiosity and open discussion into how we may think, feel and react in various situations
- Helps people face and deal with inevitable challenges that will crop up in the modern world we live in
- Helps us understand the pro's and con's of technology and the difference between noticing healthy and unhealthy exposure
- Understand personality types. We all have traits/skills that we all naturally gravitate towards, however, there is always room for self development or working as a team to achieve desires and aspirations.
- Skills to help people break out of habitual tendencies, which can potentially prevent 'short term' or 'misguided' choices, later in life .i.e. alcohol, drug, social media additions and other distractions which keeps people stuck in unhelpful life cycles.
The definition of 'Stress' is the feeling of being overwhelmed or unable to cope with mental or emotional pressure.
Learning how to control stress can make achieving each bullet point above a much more realistic prospect for anyone.
A better understanding of the chemistry in the body when we become overwhelmed, can help people micro manage and reverse stress physiology. Understanding that we can take practical corrective measures as stress occurs, can help us remain comfortable in challanging situations.
When we feel comfortable, happy and healthy it is much easier to drop unhelpful distractions, eliminate negative habits, take conscious action based on our values and principles and ultimately enjoy life!
We can learn from the practical methods utilised by the most resilient people on the planet, e.g. skills used by elite military forces or athletes which help eliminate procrastination, unhelpful thought, fear and stress. We can get inspirational local heroes in classrooms, inspiring the next generation with their own interesting experiences on how they have managed to overcome challenges in life.
There are remarkable Mental Health organisations embracing early intervention who can help provide direction on how we can make sustainable Wellbeing a reality within society.
We can learn from those who have been through tough times and found a way to bounce back to find purpose and enjoyment in their lives.
Some amazing schools take it upon themselves to provide struggling pupils with a dedicated space to take a moment to reflect, be creative and have fun, etc, this boosts those feel good hormones, to help a child relax and smile - it can help kids step out of negative thoughts of worry or anxiety. Sometimes quick reset(s) can be all we need to realise, things are never as bad as we think they are.
We would like to encourage our Government to provide proactive early intervention for every student with ‘Wellbeing Education’ in schools.
The fantastic thing about Wellbeing is, with a certain level of curiosity and a willingness to experiment anyone can put the practical skills to the test and experience the results for themselves.
The evidence based research out there can be used much more proactively than it is currently.
