Release Members of Punk Group PUSSY RIOT from Prison

Protect Free Speech and Human Rights

Letter to
Government Of Russian Federation
On March 3, 2012, prior to Russian presidential elections, four members of the feminist punk-rock band “Pussy Riot” were arrested. They were accused of “hooliganism” and inciting “religious intolerance”, which is punished with detainment for 2 years. On February 21 “Pussy Riot” performed a song “Punk-prayer” in Moscow Cathedral to protest Putin’s policies.

“Pussy Riot” has held numerous demonstrations against Putin, among them a concert on Red Square, where they protested election fraud. The Russian Government detained several members of the group at that time but released them due to the pressure from human rights groups. According to musicians, “this is a political order. The regime wants to make us political prisoners, the release of whose we were demanding with our demonstrations.”

We are deeply concerned with the prosecution of artists based on political views and demand the release of musicians.
