OFAH is working on it and the person I spoke to was very reasonable and will bring our concerns to the table and will get back to us.

In the meantime…

I got quite the response from the OPP when I called.

Scenario:  I mentioned that I know of a launch that is open at this time and that all access to fishing is closed in my area. So my question was if we hook up our boat and drive to that open launch will we be fined? It’s not our fault that we have to drive further out of range.

Her exact words were: "If you can afford to buy food at the grocery store then you should stay home". She wasn’t kidding.

I said: "We have the right to fish".

She said: "Travelling to go fishing is considered non-essential travel and we are all subject to be fined the $750 each if we violate the provincial emergency order".

I said: "There are no provincial travel restrictions within the province of Ontario".

She said: "It doesn't matter".

When I spoke to the gentleman from the OFAH hotline I told him that this is not acceptable and that all OPP in the province of Ontario need to be fully educated about Hunting and Fishing rights otherwise everyone may get fined including people who have lost their jobs etc.

We obviously can’t shore fish around here because of course they closed any land access anywhere near water. Quite the loophole I may add.

So stay tuned…this story is not over.

P.S. And by the way you absolutely do not have to donate any money to this petition. I am doing this for FREE because many of you have already been penalized enough.

Please keep signing and sharing. We need to work together and have our voices heard. It's not okay.
