Sub : Prayer for CBI investigation into the brutal murder of Mamita Meher. 

Revered Sir, 

We, the leading women activists working to protect the rights of women ,girls and children , humbly submit :

1.That the murder of Mamita Meher , the teacher of Mahaling based Sunshine English Medium.School by the founder and President of the said school,one Govind Sahu is a brutal, barbaric, heinous crime committed against an innocent young woman in a cold-blooded and planned manner .

2.That the said murder was allegedly committed by the accused because Mamita Meher possessed some incriminating evidence with regard to the sexual exploitation of female students of the college in her mobile phone , pendrive and laptop which she had threatened to make public.These facts are widely covered by the print as well as electronic media.

3.That it is now in the public domain that the accused Govind Sahu had been known to and associated with Captain Dibya Shankar Mishra, the Minister of State , Home Department , Government of Odisha.Sri Mishra used to visit the said college and other Ministers and government officials also visited the said institution and showed favours.The huge funds have been allocated /granted in favour of the said educational institution by the Minister and the Western Orissa Development Council .

4.That due to the alleged nexus of the accused Govind Sahu with Captain Dibya Shankar Mishra , the Minister of State , Home Department (under whom the state police functions) it is apprehended that the police would not conduct a proper and fair investigation into the murder of Mamita Meher.The initial action of police and its irresponsible attitude in not registering the FIR lodged by the victim's family, keeping the accused Govind Sahu in a barrack , his absconding from the police custody further strengthen the public apprehension that the police will not conduct a proper and fair investigation into this barbaric crime.Therefore, there is widespread public opinion for a CBI investigation into the muder of Mamita Meher.

5.That the rising trend of crime against women in the state in general and the brutal , barbaric and ghastly muder of Mamita Meher in particular caused grave public concern , public anger, public anguish to such an extent that there is public opinion in favour of an investigation by the Central Bureau of investigation (CBI) which will ensure a proper and fair investigation into the murder of Mamita Meher.

In view of the aforementioned circumstances, we pray His Excellency to direct the Hon'ble Chief Minister , Odisha to handover the investigation of Mamita Meher murder case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for ensuring a proper and fair investigation.
