Elizabeth Penney started this petition to Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and

On June 9, 2021 our parents were separated when being admitted to a Long Term Care facility. To provide you a brief description, our parents were living at home and have been married for 61 years. They were receiving 24 hour care because of their health issues, therefore we were told that an application had to be submitted for Long Term Care or if we didn't comply, they could possibly loose some of their hours. We felt that we were being held over a barrel and so the application was completed with only one request stipulated from our family and that was "under no circumstances were our parents to be separated."

At the time we were told that it could take weeks or months for them to be together but by going public and sharing our story to social media and reaching out to government we were able to get movement . This isn't about our parents anymore, we want to see this happen for all Seniors of this province and to ensure that they have a voice and are treated with respect and dignity.

We will continue the fight for our seniors in this province until there is change.  Please sign the petition and let's be a voice for our seniors.
