Justice for Street dogs- Poisoned & Brutally Beaten to Death in Khotang
The Issue
There was a mass murder of street dogs that happened this morning in Diktel, Khotang, Nepal (31 September, 2019). The purpose? To control the street dogs population. Some street dogs were even poisoned and brutally beaten to death and their lifeless bodies thrown in a truck.
Please sign on to stop this tragic massacre, bring justice, and stricter laws for Animal Rights!
The whole Nepal worships cows and dogs but just for a day. Rest of the year, while many animal lovers do their best to protect the animals, there are those who violate animal rights and abuse them every day.
In the name of Street Dog Control Program conducted at Tribeni Chowk of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi municipality in Khotang district, many innocent dogs were fed poison and mercilessly beaten to death. The first blow didn’t even kill them; they were bludgeoned to death. And their bloody lifeless bodies were discarded like rags in a truck. The dogs must have been so terrified in those last moments of their lives, shocked even why their humans are hurting and killing them mercilessly.
The video posted by Bajindra Bista on his Facebook showed that several dogs were killed and collected in a truck. As I watched the first part of the video, I couldn’t continue further as my heart was filled with pain and horror. These poor creatures were being mercilessly beaten to death as if they never mattered.

The team from 4Care: Animal Shelter, even called the mayor of Diktel Rupakot Municipality, who answered that as the number of dogs’ population are increasing, the dogs were beaten to death to control their population. He said that he did not know about neutering and spaying programs.
Being in a mayoral position, he should at least have the decency and knowledge to be more humane...the fact that he doesn't know a more humane way to control or do not have access to veterinarians should say a lot about his incompetence and of the people who followed his order. Next thing you know, they are “controlling” the children-people living in the street by poisoning them and brutally murdering them just because they didn’t know other way.
The dogs who protect us from danger; they have to go through garbage to find food to survive, get kicks and hit by bricks on a daily basis- their importance in our lives are so much more and yet they are being mercilessly killed to “control their population”.
Sign on today to tell Nepal Government to stop this animal cruelty.
We need to fight against animal cruelty. Enough is Enough. The more silent we are, the more this cruelty continues and we would equally be part of this cruelty. You don’t have to be an animal lover to understand the necessity for stricter Animal Rights and Laws, you just have empathize with what they go through every day. The animals are also entitled to the rights of safety, food, protection, shelter should be afforded to these helpless creatures, the same consideration as similar interests of human beings.
No animal deserve such inhumane act; they don’t deserve to go through such cruel abuse, such terror. We need to come together to save them and bring justice.
These creatures cannot raise their voice or fight for their rights. It is up to us to stand for them and be their voice. Let’s stand together and fight for their rights.
Join our fight for justice so that no animal is ever tortured. Join us in appealing to our Prime Minister and our Government to increase the maximum penalty for animal abuse cases.
