Asking the government to allow the procession commemorating St Paul's Shipwreck in Malta
Why this petition matters
Quoting from timesofmalta.com, "The authorities have so far refused to issue a permit for the procession on the feast of St Paul's Shipwreck on February 10, the organisers have said. In a Facebook update, the parish chapter and the Għaqda tal-Pawlini said that sit-down events planned for February 8 and 9 have been given the go-ahead. Their request for the procession to be held on February 10 has not been accepted at this stage".* The organisers said they are seeking a meeting with the authorities for a solution to be found that also safeguards public health.
Belt Valletta is running this petition in an effort for it to act as further eye-opener for the Local Government to realise the cultural importance of this Festa for the people of Valletta and the Maltese in general, and allow for this event to be held with all Covid-19 health considerations in place - as suggested by the passionate organisors.
