Hi Friends,

It has been a while since I shared an update with you. Thanks for your patience.

However, since the May 10th, 2019 meeting hosted by the Government of Jamaica with the Management of the University of Technology, Jamaica [UTech Academic Staff Union (UTASU) in attendance] to discuss the Government's Subvention, there has been no official statement on the meeting and related agreements, to the public or university community  from either our Government, or the Management of UTech, Jamaica.

Despite that, I understand from Academic colleagues, that based on the May 10th, 2019 meeting, they expect to receive the beginnings of the salary adjustment they have been advocating for in this July 2019 salary payment.

We wish the lecturers and eligible retired lecturers the very best in receiving their due compensation.

In addition, we are mindful that academic salaries are not the only expense of  UTech, Jamaica, our National University. Therefore,  we continue to hold our Government of Jamaica accountable for the provision of an Increase in the Subvention to the University of Technology, Jamaica, Commensurate with Need.

Few things of great worth are easy to come by. Do continue to #standwithUTechjamaica
