Day 7-Post Submission | Refresher on UTech Ja Funding Issues

Hi Friends,
It is now 7 days since we submitted (by email & hand delivery) on Thurs 4th April, 2019, our Petition: Government of Jamaica Increase the Subvention to the University of Technology, Jamaica, Commensurate with Need to
>the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, Prime Minister
>the Hon. Karl Samuda, Minister of Education, Youth and Information
>Dr. Grace McLean, Actg Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Youth and Information
I have not seen an acknowledgement.
At UTech, Jamaica, staff has not been advised of any new developments with regard to a response from the Government on the matter of the subvention or status of the promised submission to Cabinet by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information.
Our wait continues.
The good news is that with your help the number of persons supporting our petition continues to grow. It is Day 34 and 16,089 have united for #moresubvention4utechja
As we wait, I thought it would be useful to refocus our minds on the reasons for us uniting to support an appropriate increase in subvention for our national University. Please see below for two articles which provide a perspective on the challenging context in which the University of Technology, Jamaica continues to serve the citizens of Jamaica and the Caribbean.
