You must have come across cases like these-

1.  A 45-day old puppy being found brutally killed using a marble cutter in Mumbai
2.  Two men were arrested for chopping off a dog's legs using an axe, recording the crime on camera and the dog later died due to excessive bleeding.
3. Three youngsters allegedly thrashed a Labrador to death for allegedly sleeping under a boat at a beach in Kerala.

These heart-wrenching incidents are not isolated cases. Every day, more and more animals are being abused by people who know that they will not suffer any consequences in the current state of the animal protection laws in the country. 

Why is it that voiceless animals are tortured and the humans in charge of protecting them and bringing their abusers to justice fail to do so?

As humans, we feel the need to bring up these cases and ask for stricter actions against the perpetrators and also ensure justice because in the current state of law enforcement, even if these people were to be arrested, they would not face any major consequences.

We felt the need to make this petition to raise awareness and urge the authorities to change the current state of animal protection laws in India. We have the following requests-

1. People who perform such heinous acts of animal cruelty should be strictly punished and such crimes are made a non-bailable offence.
2. The Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Act, 1960 should be amended and the perpetrators booked under this act be fined the highest amount that would discourage animal cruelty.
