There shall be no revenue targets for doctors in hospitals. Patient welfare to be supreme.

Big hospitals hire very bright talent in medical fraternity by paying very hefty pay packages.
However along with these high pay packages these doctors also get the revenue targets.
This results in very high value tests or high value treatment including high end operations.
For example if a doctor salary is Rs.15 lakhs per annum then target will be Rs.60 lakhs or Rs.75 lakhs per annum.
The result of this businesslike environment is that prescription of a test or treatment or operation is not entirely resultant of the medical situation. This prescription is driven by compulsion of meeting revenue targets to a great extent.
Like we have regulator in the shape of TRAI, SEBI, IRDA, RERA etc. similarly there shall be a medical regulator in the country ensuring
1. No revenue targets shall be given to doctors in any hospital.
2. The performance evaluation system of the doctors shall be entirely dependant on feedback of the patients.
In developed countries it is already in practice in different form. We shall ensure welfare of patient as paramount in India also.
