Adit Nikhil started this petition to Government of India

The Yamuna (or Jamuna) River is 1,276 km long, passing metropolitan cities such as New Delhi, Allahabad and Agra. Named after Hindu Goddess Yamuna, this river is saintly for millions of Hindus. Furthermore,  Gangetic dolphins, fish and turtles reside in the Yamuna- most of the marine ecosystem in India dwell in the Yamuna. One of the longest tributaries in India- the Yamuna originates from the Yamunotri Glacier and the river’s mouth is the Holy Triveni Sangam. Every meander, every current flowing through the Yamuna is pure and holy for the Hindus. However, we dispose of 740 million gallons per day of sewage in the Yamuna. Instead of 1.2 mg/l of ammonia, the Yamuna carries 12 mg/l of ammonia. Our disregard for our religion, marine ecosystem,  our environment is abhorrent and abominable. It is time we bring back holiness and purity. It is time we respect our surroundings over our selfish wishes. It is time we change. Sign this petition for saving and respecting the world you live in.
