Ban the use of Horse Carts at Lumber Yards in Guyana
Why this petition matters
The use of horses to pull overloaded carts of lumber ,cement blocks and other construction materials is cruel!. They are forced to work in extreme weather conditions (Intense heat, heavy rain), they are forced to run alongside and in between dangerous traffic, forced to stand for long hours (at lumber yards), having to breathe in exhaust fumes, subjected to a variety of injuries from walking/ running for long periods on hard surfaces (roads), all while being whipped to haul an overloaded cart!. And after a long day of work, they go home to, in most cases a tiny space, with no proper shelter, given a meager and poor diet, with little to no veterinary care.....Only to repeat this all over the next day, until their body finally gives out. They either die on the road, or have injuries that deem them no longer able to work and as such, disposable. They are then often times abandoned to roam the streets. Why are we as a society overlooking this cruelty inflicted on these animals?. Why do the majority of people who utilize Horses/ Donkeys to make a living, treat these animals so poorly?. There must be a balance, where Horses/ Donkeys can be working animals, but are not subjected to this cruelty, this abuse!. We have to demand better! Now ‼️‼️
By signing this petition you are saying no to the abuse and cruelty subjected to horses primarily forced to haul heavy lumber and concrete blocks!.
