Make All Major Roads Dual Carriage

The Issue

In a publication by Dr Paa Kwesi Blankson in the Ghana Medical Journal 2020 dubbed; Road accidents in Ghana: contributing factors and economic consequences, he asserts that more than 60% of road traffic fatalities occured in children and young persons under 35 years of age. Aside the mortality and morbidity associated with the road crashes, Ghanaian households spend an average of US$ 1687.65 in direct and indirect cost on severe injuries associated with road crashes, while many suffer considerable degrees of psychological distress

There were 12100 road traffic crashes in Ghana in 2020. This involved over 20400 vehicles. These accidents led to about 2080 fatalities and 12380 injuries.

We stand to save lives if all major roads are made dual carriage. This will prevent head on collision and reduce the alarming rate of road accidents significantly.

Join this call by signing this petition to get government to work to make all major roads in Ghana dual carriage. This is long overdue. We are fed up of the rhetorics!!!

This call is in line with government's claim that this year is 'year of roads'.
