Dear Supporters,
We need your help! We are looking for volunteers to help us in our fight to keep public land in public hands and to save 1117 Queen West! Join us by emailing: wqw@qcpost.ca
As you may already know, Canada Post Corp. has ignored calls from the community and has gone ahead with the sale of Postal Station C at 1117 Queen West. The sale is appallingly listed for $0.
Canada Post has chosen a short-sighted and short-term business model by selling off non-renewable resources (our heritage buildings and public property) to temporarily help their budget.
Of concern is that the company that bought Postal Station C was formed BEFORE the building publicly went up for sale. It begs the question if community groups even had a chance, despite the fact several local organizations submitted Letters of Intent (LOIs) to use the building for public benefit.
The WQW Community Post group continues our fight to bring public use to 1117 Queen St West, and push for an amendment to the Canada Post Act to ensure public benefit is incorporated into any sale of public assets in the future. We want this situation to never happen again.
We need volunteers to help in our efforts. If you are willing to donate even an hour of your time, we need you!
We are looking for all kinds of help - from delivering flyers, cold-calling, drafting letters, connecting with community members, or media work.
If you can volunteer, please email us at: wqw@qcpost.ca
Thank you for all of your support!
Sincerely,
WQW Community Post
