The “big lick” is a unnatural gate, achieved by inflicting severe pain upon a horses feet using chemicals and techniques. This is called “soaring.” the only thing these horses can do to try and stop the pain is lift there legs up.

Cruel methods are being used to obtain the big lick, such as hitting with a pole and electrical prods. (Shown in the photo above)

Many trainers have been charged for violations of Horse Protection Act. But it’s still not enough to stop them. Scorers have found many Techniques to hide it. Such as Black paint.
