Government introduce a Universal Basic Income to deal with the cost of Living Crisis
Why this petition matters
Up to 40% of UK households are facing fuel poverty, food bank usage is up 14% from last year, the number of adults who are food-insecure is up 57% from the start of the year to 1-in-7 with 1-in-8 workers already in poverty in the 6th richest country in the world.
All of this is expected to get worse as the cost of living continues to rise with little real relief in sight.
This is why I am calling on the UK government to introduce a Universal Basic Income for all British adults of at least £800 per month.
A universal benefit such as this could even replace the need for the disastrous Universal Credit while helping ease not only the financial burden millions are facing but also the mental health crisis looming over our heads that this extra security a UBI would bring. Our pensioners and the disabled, some of our most vulverable could also see a dramatic amount of support from a UBI when coupled with PIP & ESA where most of them have been expected to exist below the poverty line for over a decade now.
With your help in signing and sharing this petition we could finally have a fighting chance at tackling our horrendous cost of living crisis while taking an axe to poverty in the UK with a £800 UBI that the British people not only need, but deserve.
