NEW PET RULE: JUNE 25 LAST DAY TO SIGN FOR SUPPORT!
www.spca.com/reglement-bien-etre-animal/
On May 11, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food of Quebec (MAPAQ) published a draft regulation on the welfare of pets.
This one includes several major advances for animals, but nothing is guaranteed until it's completed... hence the importance of joining the SPCA of Montreal to show your support. We only have until June 25th to make our voices heard!
Among other advances, the regulation would mark the end of several unacceptable practices that are still common in Quebec, such as the use of gas chambers for the killing of animals, the decriminalization of cats and the evocalization of with dogs.
The regulation also proposes measures allowing for a much stricter framework for the breeding and sale of pets, including imposing a limit of 50 cats or dogs that can be owned by one person, a minimum age al for breeding, maximum litters per year and a vet consultation prior to mating.
If adopted, these measures will make it possible to eradicate large-scale cat and dog breeding in Quebec.
