STILL. HERE. (From LeeAnn Baker)
Why am I still here?
When I have willed death to come?
And yet when I open my eyes,
No change has been done.
I'm still stuck in this place,
in unending days,
the darkness surrounds me,
envelopes and stays.
This metal tether,
attached to my soul,
only grows colder,
only weighs more.
Why am I here?
Stuck in this bleakness so long?
That one person who came,
disappeared, just is gone.
I know the snow will bring people,
for me to pull for a while.
Then I'm back to this world,
this remote, lonely isle.
LeeAnn Baker
During this holiday season, think about all the dogs warehoused outside on uninhabited land for the sole purpose of pulling tourists.
All Industrial Dog Sled Kennels across North America warehouse their dogs for LIFE OUTSIDE in all weather, chained to a barrel or wooden box or caged.
Ontario is among them. Many people don't know this, as the operators meet their clients in a park, far from the dog yard.
Don't go dog sledding and don't let your child's school take them either.
This practice of chaining is overwhelmingly prevalent in the DOG SLEDDING INDUSTRY and supported by
MUSH WITH PRIDE, an antiquated organization based in Alaska who influence our Canadian laws when it comes to the treatment of Sled Dogs and who ignore all current science proving chaining is wrong.
An organization who's former Vice President, Bob Fawcett, was the man that slaughtered all the B.C. Olympic Sled Dogs, after the tourists went home and the money dried up.
The Canadian Veterinary Association and the World Sled Dog Association denounce chaining. Educate yourself on the reality of this industry at http://sleddogsfilm.com
Toronto has a 1 hour limit on chaining. Tell your MPP, ALL Ontario dogs deserve that, with no EXEMPTIONS, as is done, for :
"Sled dogs" or "Working dogs" or "Hunting dogs", just because these Kennels have "labeled" them as such.
Find your MPP here-https://www.ola.org/en/members/current…
Please email both Premier Ford as well as the Solicitor General Sylvia Jones and express your disgust with how they can allow this to go on.
