Below is an update I just received from Greg in Canada. This case shows why we need to go on with our petition to ban dog tethering without exception. We hope to reach the 100.000 signatures to make an impact with government! please Share this petition if you haven’t done so already. Together we can unchain the dogs in Ontario!
BREAKING NEWS: The Ministry of the Solicitor General has confirmed animal welfare inspectors removed eight dogs from a property in Minden today.
A ministry spokesperson said this was "as a result of the owner not complying with orders related to standards of care."
Police were previously called to a Minden property Jan. 22 to address an allegation of poor living conditions for 14 hunting dogs chained up outside in dog houses there. Since then, the ministry has said provincial inspectors were working with the property owner to ensure order compliance.
The ministry said the eight dogs removed are now being sheltered at the Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes in Lindsay.
A spokesperson said the ministry could not comment on what happened to the other dogs previously on the property, which is part of an ongoing investigation. The Highlander will provide more information as it is made available.
I am, like you, worried about the other six dogs, and what is happening to them. If there are any further updates about the 14 dogs, we will share them with you. Thank you for your support!
