Force groceries in Australia that are Halal-Certified to display the LOGO on the packaging

Force groceries in Australia that are Halal-Certified to display the LOGO on the packaging
The issue
Consumers have the right to know exactly what they are paying for. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission says that they cannot enforce a labeling law without the decision being first made by the court. This is where we need your support.
As you may know, most of the groceries you pay for at the supermarket are by now considered to be "HALAL-CERTIFIED". This is because the brands who manufacturer the products pay for this certification to a regulated body (there is believed to be 4 major halal accreditation certifiers in Australia including the AFIC- Australian Federation of Islamic Councils). Halal means "permissible" and so the idea of having a certified product is so Muslims know what groceries they are allowed under Sharia Law. The LOGO lets the consumer know that the product is permissible (Halal) for them. We have no issue with this.
What our issue is, which is the reason for this petition, is that most brands that are "halal certified" are NOT putting the LOGO on their packaging. It is our belief that both Muslim and non-Muslim customers have the right to be informed about their grocery choices while they are in the supermarket. People should not have to access various websites and/or make numerous telephone calls to manufacturers to source information that should already be on the label. After-all, this certification was designed to assist Muslim people identify HALAL products whilst they are shopping. It is also apparent that there are many non-Muslim people who would like to buy non-halal groceries which is another major reason for the requirement of displaying the Logo.
If you agree that the consumer should have the RIGHT to the correct information about the foods they are buying while they are inside the store then please SIGN and SHARE this petition. Remember, this is not about race or religion as this is clearly for the benefit of all concerned.
