Lastnight my son Arlo 8 weeks old choked on calpol, the syringe came out to fast into his mouth and he began to cough, he was completely fine at first but after 5 minutes he was frothing from his mouth, he then proceeded to stop breathing, was blue and floppy. We rang 999, my mum is a nurse so thankfully knew what to do, I dread to think what would of happened if I was alone, when paramedics arrive thankfully he had spat up a lot of bile and fluids and was breathing again, they checked his obs and his temperature was dangerously low due to lack of oxygen, we where took to our local hospital where he was checked over again and eventually discharged as he was thankfully fine. I am starting a petition to have calpol change there syringe to a slower syringe or a new way of administrating calpol. If everybody could share my petition and sign it please, it’s not worth thinking about what today could of been like, I couldn’t thank the emergency services enough for what they done for not just my son but me last night.
