Oct 23, 2016
This letter sent by Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy to their supporters: After a long silence relating to the landslide which impacted Paseo Del Mar five years ago, we have received important information that we'd like to share with you about options the City of LA is evaluating for the replacement of Paseo Del Mar. Officially referred to as the "Initial Study of the Paseo Del Mar Restoration Project," the City is proposing four alternatives. We encourage you to attend the community meeting (see information below) and learn more about this project. The Land Conservancy will be there to support the preservation of White Point Nature Preserve's nature and recreational values, which are threatened by alternative 4 (see map below). Please keep in mind that the study requires a formal Environmental Impact Report (EIR) to be prepared to evaluate alternatives and their impacts to biological, cultural, and recreational values, as well as traffic, air quality and other impacts. The EIR will take several months, so your continued interest and input will be important along the way. Thank you for your continued support of San Pedro's natural lands.
