The Issue

I am in council housing and need to be re-housed due to circumstance changes, the local authority has stated that I cannot be moved with my beloved dog as due to the “dangerous dog act” the government sent out orders to council’s across the UK stating that they are no longer allowed to re-home tenants into LAH ( local authority housing) with pets, this includes dogs cats anything bigger than fish, due to potential damage to their properties. Whilst I understand their concerns of damage to properties, not every dog is capable of damage neither interested in causing any. Because of this I have had to gift my beloved dog to Battersea dogs home this week and I am mortified,I feel like I have lost part of me, my family, so can only imagine how my dog feels being wrenched away from all he has ever known a loving family who adores him,I cannot sleep knowing I will never see him again! Battersea are at present receiving an average of 800 calls per week from loving dog owners having to gift their dogs due to these laws, it’s unfair to tar all dogs and their owners with the same brush, so please if you love your pets and understand my plight please sign my petition so we can get this changed and spare the heartache
