Don't rush academy conversion at Cyril Jackson School - Petition to the Governing Body

The Issue

We, the undersigned parents from Cyril Jackson Primary School and concerned members of the community, believe that the proposal to become an academy is a serious decision that should not be rushed, and that all parties should be fully aware of the possible risks and implications as well as the possible benefits.

We do not believe that we are being given enough time or information to allow for a fair and meaningful consultation. We therefore ask the governors to:

1. Extend the consultation period into the autumn term.

2. Organise a meeting for all parents and staff, with speakers for and against the proposal, so that both sides can be heard.

3. Conduct a secret ballot of all staff and parents to give their opinion for or against academisation.

If the governing body are convinced that becoming an academy is the right thing for the school, we see no reason why they shouldn’t be able to do this.
