Expel Baroness Shami Chakrabarti from the Lords for her discredited report on antisemitism

The Issue

On the publication of the independent EHRC report on antisemitism in the Labour Party, it is clear that the report produced by Baroness Shami Chakrabarti on the same issue is now discredited.  The immediate impact of the EHRC report being that Jeremy Corbyn, the previous leader of the Labour Party, has been suspended. In light of these developments we ask Parliament, the Lords and the Labour Party to consider the suspension/expelling of peer/s who have compromised their position by their unacceptable actions relating to this issue.

The nation deserves a second chamber where people of integrity and honesty utilise their skills for the good of the many.

The EHRC report states that Labour Party broke many rules and in effect became a safe space where such racism could thrive. Baroness Shami Chakrabarti is undeserving of the honour that was granted to her. It is right that at the very least, Baroness Shami Chakrabarti should resign from her peerage as an act of remorse, failing that, we ask the powers to be to take appropriate action to remove peers who have brought the House of Lords into disrepute.
