Barbara Crosby served as an educator for 30 years and a school board member for 13 years. Despite the turmoil brought on by the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic, Mrs. Crosby upholds the moral and ethical standards to which she pledged. She has never been one to cave to aggressive persuasion of those with other interests. She opposed pressure from special interest groups like SC for Ed to divert from face-to-face learning and violate state laws that ban mask mandates. By doing so, she upholds her ethical principle to support Dorchester District Two’s educational setting as the best possible to encourage all students to achieve and to love learning. 

Mrs. Crosby seeks regular communications between the board and students, staff and all segments of the community; to which she sheds light on concerns from all sectors. Most recently, Mrs. Crosby spoke the truth that staff working double duty weren't being compensated as was promised. She spoke truth that schools and buses weren't getting sanitized as promise. She voiced concerns from all segments of the community that virtual learning and mask mandates are not long-term solutions that support the responsibility of the educational system. Mrs. Crosby represents the interests of the entire district when making decisions and relies on available facts and on her judgment rather than on individuals or special interest groups. By bringing these truths into the discussion forum, she encourages an open exchange of ideas and resolutions by all board members during the decision-making process.

Barbara Crosby is honorable! She is dedicated! She embodies integrity!  Mrs. Crosby deserves to be recognized as an exemplary school board member in South Carolina and in the land of the free, the United States of America!
